Jim Volk Celebrates 50th Anniversary!

Wallick & Volk Mortgage announced today that Chairman, Jim Volk, has reached an impressive milestone – his 50^th Anniversary with Wallick & Volk. 

Jim Volk is the grandson of the company’s founder OD “Jack” Wallick who began the company in 1932.  Volk was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1963, he joined the family business with his father Roy Volk and grandfather.  At that time, the company was small and diverse offering mortgage lending, real estate services, insurance and more.  With only five employees and three real estate agents at that time, Volk learned every aspect of the business.  In the ensuing decades, the company substantially expanded its loan origination, mortgage servicing, real estate, and insurance divisions.  Volk’s career flourished, he was named “Man of the Year” by the Wyoming Association of Independent Insurance Agents in 1974 and received the “Realtor of the Year” award numerous times. Volk was named President of Wallick & Volk in 1980 after the untimely death of his father, Roy Volk.  By 2005 the company had sold the other divisions and began focusing all efforts on loan origination.  Wallick & Volk has grown to become one of the Top 100 Mortgage Lenders in America and remains privately held.

Today, Volk is Chairman of the company after Michael Groff's promotion to President in November, 2005. Volk continues to be active in the management of Wallick & Volk.  He reflects, “Looking back at the last five decades, I find it quite remarkable that each decade had both very good and very bad economic times; however, at the end of each decade our company emerged, not only a survivor, but also a stronger company.”  Marquie Volk, Jim’s wife of nearly 40 years adds, “Jim is a man of his word with incredible integrity.  He has earned the respect of his team, the industry and our community.”
